Britney Spears has been entertaining others since she was very young. At the age of 4, Britney started dancing and entering pagents in her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana. Her professional career began at the age of 8 when she auditioned for the Disney Channel's Mickey Mouse Club. At that time, she was too young for the show, but the producer helped her find an agent in NYC. Britney spent the next three summers in NYC studying at the Off-Broadway Dance Center and at the Professional Performing Arts School. In 1991 she landed a part in the off-broadway comedy "Ruthless".
At age 11 Britney was finally old enough to land a spot on the Mickey Mouse Club. After two years of successfully performing on the show, she returned to Kentwood, where she attended regular high school for a year.
Britney then returned to NYC to give singing another shot. An executive at Jive Records heard her demo tape and signed her to a development deal. She was then introduced to producer Eric Foster White, who worked with
Boyzone, Whitney Houston and Hi-Five. She then traveled to Sweden to work with producer Max Martin whose previous clients included Robyn, the Backstreet Boys, and Ace of Base.
In early 1998 Britney's first album, "Baby One More Time...", was complete. She went on a promotional tour through malls of America, just like many other popular teen performers.
She also landed a spot opening for 'N Sync, which she continued until January 1999. In January, her debut "Baby One More Time..." hit the Number 1spot on the Billboard Charts. She also has a song called "E-Mail My Heart."
